Noah's Ark nursery, based in the Green Ark Children's Centre in Devonport, ushered in the Year of the Dragon with special activities.
Children made Chinese flags, tasted noodles in the messy play area and enjoyed a range of colourful crafts.
With the help of the International Families Group, they fashioned a dragon for the event from egg boxes and cardboard.
Clare Menyena, nursery manager, said: "This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about other cultures and celebrate with other families."
Clare Wasey, children's centre leader, added: "It's great that the nursery and children's centre have been able to work together to celebrate the Chinese New Year."
