Disappointing quality and service

I have recently moved back to the city and whilst shopping today a Gorge breakfast seemed like a great idea, how wrong I was...... Ordering was fine, but when my breakfast arrived there was a long black hair under it all and hanging off the side of the plate! I took it back to the counter while my wife started hers. After about 2 minutes the lady who had served me originally finished her conversation with her friend and walked back to the till, she looked at the breakfast I had left on the counter and said "something wrong with it?", I showed her the hair which she grunted at and picked the plate up and as she was walking away from me she said "you want it changed then?" No apology, nothing. On returning to the table I discovered that my wife had stopped eating, she said that it tasted awful and didn't want any more. When my new breakfast arrived I discovered why, the sausage is an increadibly cheap, nasty catering 8 which I doubt has more than about 15% meat content, the egg yolk was almost white, a sure sign of poor quality, the bacon was just about cooked but with undercooked chewy rind, even though there were char marks in places, the baked beans were warm, watery and tasteless and the toast looked like it had been dipped in melted butter or grease, it was so saturated that we had floppy toast!!! In fairness my wife's mushrooms were ok and the machine lattes were passable. I always remeber the place as being very busy and usually having to wait for a table or feeling very lucky to find one. Today at 10am, apart from us there were 3 other tables seated, no wonder given my experience. We drank our coffees and between us ate one round of toast and two rashers of bacon and two eggs. We left the rest of the £10 worth of breakfasts on the plates and left, and have vowed to never return. It's a genuine shame to see what it has become, knowing what it once was.

    Older than me

I can't remember how long I have been going to the Gorge. Ever since I was a little girl. It serves one of the biggest breakfasts I've ever seen. It's a great meeting place and a great place to have a break if you're all shopped out. You don't have to eat in, you can takeaway and the service is extremely quick.
