CRIME.

Crime figures for the period 18th December 09 to 15th January 10 are up from 44 crimes reported last year to 60 this year.

The main offences were: -

Assault - 18

Theft - 8

Burglary - 7

Criminal damage - 7

Shoplifting - 4

Drugs - 3

Anti-social behaviour incidents recorded in the same period in 2008 were 39 compared with 61 for this year.

Other news / events.

A Street audit has been completed in Granby Street following the problems there early in December. Residents were asked the question ‘How safe do you feel?’ 58% said they felt safe.

Plans are in hand to try and utilise an unoccupied flat for a multi-agency type surgery there.

A fire started in the recycled cardboard containers outside Iceland, Marlborough Street today causing a lot of smoke– Sgt. Siddall was quickly on the scene with fire extinguisher to put it out, later assisted by the fire brigade.(Photo on website)

New PCSO for Devonport

PCSO Andrew Ferguson is due to join us on 15th February, he will replace PCSO Phil Strong.

Events

Marlborough Street Activity Day - Weds. 17th February,

10.00am to 2.00pm.

"A day to beat those winter blues - where everyone springs into action!"

PC Cher Dunbar and Crime Prevention Officer Sarah German are planning a day of fun for the community in Marlborough Street.

You will be able to get involved with your local neighbourhood team and partners who will be hosting a range of activities for big kids and little kids to all enjoy.

OTHER

The Bobbies on the Beat steering group met on Weds. 30th December 09 and set the following priorities for the team for the following 6 weeks: -

Drug dealing and use.High profile policing to combat anti-social behaviour,

with emphasis on youth behaviour in the Tower Blocks and Cumberland Corner.

Control of Dogs.

The next meeting of the Bobbies on the Beat Steering Group is on Wednesday 10th February at 5.00pm at Brickfields Sports Centre, Devonport.
