CRIME.

Crime figures for the period 15th January to 22nd January 10 are down from 12 crimes reported last year to 7 this year.

These include:-

Drugs x 1- Drugs warrant executed by the team at a property in St. Stephen Street on Sat 16th Jan, one person arrested and a quantity of cannabis seized.

Theft from motor vehicle x 2:-

Sat. 16 Jan between 1210 & 1235; Madden Road; a Blue Audi had a window smashed with a brick to gain entry; credit cards stolen.

Thurs. 21 Jan between 1230 & 1258; Yellow Citroen Saxo parked in New Passage Hill again window smashed and a laptop,leather holdall, clothing, CD’s and mobile stolen.

Anti-social behaviour incidents recorded in the same period in 2008 were 11 compared with 7 for this year.

POLICE in Plymouth have hailed a large drop in crime as the latest Home Office figures are released.

Official figures show overall crime was down by 9.6 per cent, with 2,457 fewer crimes in the city between October 1, 2008, and September 30, 2009, by comparison to the year before. The figures for Devon and Cornwall as a whole showed a drop of seven per cent, a reduction of 7,920 crimes, placing the force area as the fourth safest in the country.

Domestic burglaries were down by 447 incidents, 32.6 per cent lower than the previous year, while theft from motor vehicles was down by 847 incidents – 37.7 per cent lower.

Thefts of vehicles and cases of taking without consent had dropped by 214 – 28.1 per cent lower. Supt. Green commented.

"For a city of 250,000 residents, which also has a large number of visitors, commuting workers, a large student population and a strong military presence, we still have a low crime rate and a reducing crime trend."

Marlborough Street Activity Day - Weds. 17th February,

PC Cher Dunbar and Crime Prevention Officer Sarah German are planning a day of fun for the community in Marlborough Street.

You will be able to get involved with your local neighbourhood team and partners who will be hosting a range of activities for big kids and little kids to all enjoy.

OTHER

The Bobbies on the Beat steering group met on Weds. 30th December 09 and set the following priorities for the team for the following 6 weeks: -

Drug dealing and use.High profile policing to combat anti-social behaviour,

with emphasis on youth behaviour in the Tower Blocks and Cumberland Corner.

Control of Dogs.

The next meeting of the Bobbies on the Beat Steering Group is on Wednesday 10th February at 5.00pm at Brickfields Sports Centre, Devonport.
